A Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ganiyu Dawodu, attached to ‘D’ Department, Force CID, Abuja is dead.
P.M.NEWS gathered that he died of heart attack yesterday in a hotel room in Ikorodu, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria where he was lodging with a female friend, a deputy superintendent of police from Port Harcourt. The woman, it was gathered shouted for help when he observed that the DIG was in problem but he had died before help came.
Investigations revealed that the deceased recently returned from South Africa where he had gone for treatment on a heart-related problem.
DIG Ganiyu Dawodu yesterday represented the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Hafiz Ringim at the public presentation of a new television drama programme, Case File, produced by Bicommunications Nigeria Limited which also created the popular police programme, Crime fighters, the police and you.
He was promoted to Deputy Inspector General of Police on 29 September, 2010 alongside six other AIGs.
