Traggic: Father and Son Die in Separate Traffic Accidents 4 Hours Apart

Sumil Sambhi was distraught after learning his son had been killed in a freeway crash drove into oncoming traffic and died just hours later. Both crashes occurred on Interstate 8 in eastern San Diego County.

The family tragedy began to unfold when Natalia Sambhi and her 16-year-old son Devon were involved in a rollover truck crash around 6:55 a.m.

Police say Sumil Sambhi, 55, lost control of the truck, possible after suffering a blown tire. She was wearing a seat belt and survived the crash, according to the CHP.

Her son, Devon, was ejected and died at the scene. Several hours later, the boy’s father, Sumil Sambhi, 48, was killed in a head-on collision while driving the wrong way on the same freeway.

Sumil Sambhi was reportedly distraught over the death of his son. He was airlifted to the hospital but later died. A father and his 19-year-old son from Imperial County, who were in the vehicle struck by Sumil Sambhi, suffered moderate injuries.
