Yohana Olisa: Beauty Of the Week

Yohana Olisa (born 20 March, 1991) is an American model. As a child she always had the passion for modeling but it was in the year 2009 she started working into it. Although in her early years, she was highly involved in fashion shows, dancing shows and brand commercials, it was then her confidence and love for what she does started building up.

Following up in 2010, she went for the America’s Next Top Model castings, even though the results wasn’t what she expected, she kept her drive and was later signed into Models Inc Agency. In 2011 she played as an extra in the movie Rock of Ages, starring Tom Cruise, Mary J Blidge, Alec Baldwin and Russel Brand. Olisa recently got signed into HUE Model Management and we’ll definitely be seeing more of her soon as she’s also intending to work with the African market.

Olisa was born in Havana, Cuba, daughter of a Nigerian Ambassador and a Cuban business woman. She’s African descent, as well as of Cuban Chinese ancestry through her maternal grandmother who carried the family name Chang. During her early years, Olisa lived in Cuba, Bahamas, Belgium, Nigeria, Spain, Philippines and Israel until she decided to move to MiamiFlorida in pursuit of her dream and to further her education.

Beauty of the Year: Miss Angola: Leila Lopes crowned MISS UNIVERSE

Just a few hours ago, an African beauty queen emerged as the winner of the 2011 Miss Universe pageant. Leila Luliana da Costa Vieira Lopes, a 25 year old student from Benguela dazzled the judges with her poise, beauty and grace.

Yes, she is beautiful but Leila totally set herself apart when she answered the interview question about which of her physical trait she would change, she said

“Thank God I’m very satisfied with the way God created me and I wouldn’t change a thing…I consider myself a woman endowed with inner beauty. I have acquired many wonderful principles from my family and I intend to follow these for the rest of my life.“

Other beauty queens in the top 5 were Olesia Stefanko from Ukraine (1st Runner-Up), Priscila Machado from Brazil (2nd Runner-Up), Shamcey Supsup from the Philippines and Luo Zilin from China.

Miss Panama, Sheldry Saez won the Best National Costume Award; Miss Montenegro, Nikolina Loncar was voted by the fellow contestants as Miss Congeniality and Miss Sweden, Ronnia Fornstedt won the Miss Photogenic prize.

The 60th Annual Miss Universe Pageant hosted by Bravo TV’s Andy Cohen and NBC’s Natalie Morales was broadcast from Credicard Hall in São Paulo, Brazil.

BN and BN commenters predicted that Miss Angola was the strongest contestant from Africa and we got it right! This is the first time a beauty queen from Angola has been crowned as Miss Universe! Congrats to Leila.

Meet Miss Chinenye Ezurike, the winner of Miss Nigeria USA 2011 Pageant. Miss Ezurike will represent Nigeria in the annual Miss Africa USA Pageant, and she’ll compete with 57 representative of other African Countries for the coveted crown and title of Miss Africa USA 2011.

Chinenye Ezurike, Miss Nigeria USA, is an ambassador of RED PUMP PROJECT and plans to create and raise AWARENESS about HIV/AIDS in Africa and USA especially among women and youths.

Beauty Of The Week: Emmanyra

My name is Emmanyra. One word! I am a Performing Artist out of Houston Tx. I just recently graduated from Texas Southern University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Administration with a Minor in Public Affairs.

Now that I have obtained a degree I have completed my promo album which features full production from KC Boy and Justin Caes. The music is a fusion of Afro Pop and Hip Hop and is set to be released in the fall of 2011. My promo album will be entitled “Emma Nyra Hot Like Fiya”. My main musical influence is Don Jazzy because he has set the bar on where hardwork, humility, and raw talent can take you.

My other accolades include the fact that I have also acted in various Nollywood films including Rebound with Van Vicker, Desmond Elliot and Uche Jumbo, and The Reunion which features Ini Edo and Pascal Atuma. I am also a runway model and have walked in over 50+ runway shows including the Nigerian Reunion fashion show this past summer in Orlando Florida.

MBGN Universe 2011 Sophie Gemal heads to the Miss Universe pageant in São Paulo, Brazil, WILL SHE wIN????

The 2011 edition of the Miss Universe pageant takes place on the 12th of September 2011 in São Paulo, Brazil. Tickets for the 60th anniversary edition of this event are already sold out and most of the 89 pageant contestants are already in the South American city.

Nigeria’s representative, Sophie Gemal is ready for the challenge and is hoping to follow the footsteps of Agbani Darego – the only Nigerian representative to reach the Top 10 of the Miss Universe pageant. This move was a precursor to her eventual victory at the Miss World pageant that year.

All Miss Universe contestants will participate in individual and group photoshoots, Naija4Lyfe will bring you all the glam photos.
